Creating spaces where growth unfolds in Franklin. TN
Gabriela Aguirre-Iriarte,is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist specializing in reflective play therapy for children and teens.
She works primarily with sensitive and anxious children, helping them express emotions, build resilience, and feel more confident in themselves.
Through play, observation, and thoughtful reflection, Gabriela helps clients make sense of their inner world while partnering closely with parents to support emotional growth at home.
In my work with adults, I draw on many of the same principles I use with children. Through this approach, adult clients are able to reconnect with their inner experiences, heal old wounds, and regain a sense of control over their lives. This process fosters empowerment, supports confident decision-making, and helps individuals create greater meaning and purpose in their lives.

Broad Experience, Steady Presence
Gaby is an experienced clinician who has worked throughout her career in both nonprofit and private practice settings. This breadth of experience gives her a unique perspective on the varied challenges clients and therapists encounter. These insights inform her clinical work and guide her thoughtful and supportive approach to supervision.

Clinical experience shapes the ability to recognize patterns, respond thoughtfully to complex situations, and support clients through difficult moments. Over the years, I have worked with children, families, and individuals navigating emotional challenges, anxiety, and life transitions. This experience allows me to support supervisees in thinking through real clinical situations with care and perspective. In supervision, we draw on both experience and curiosity to better understand what is unfolding in the therapeutic relationship.

Working therapeutically with children requires an understanding that their emotional language is different from that of adults. My training in play therapy provides a framework for understanding how children communicate, process experiences, and express emotions through play. In supervision, we explore how play, symbolism, and the therapeutic relationship become pathways for emotional expression and healing. Supervisees working with children gain practical tools and deeper insight into how play therapy supports emotional development and resilience.

Reflection is an essential part of meaningful clinical work. Beyond techniques and interventions, therapists benefit from developing the capacity to pause, observe, and consider what is happening both within the client and within themselves. My supervision approach emphasizes reflective practice—creating space to think about the therapeutic process, the dynamics in the room, and the therapist’s role within it. This reflective stance supports supervisees in developing greater clinical awareness, confidence, and authenticity in their work.
